What the heck...I'm in though I have to have some serious retention to meet this challenge. You ladies keep me inspired and keep me focused when I want to chop it off. My starting length is grazing BSL. My routine is simple:
* deep condition/wash once a week
* moisturize and oil daily with grape seed/Arran oil/rosemary blend (hair loves it)
* massage scalp at least three times per week
* protective styling - wigs are my best friends with hair Cornrowed beneath
* recently started GHE twice per week

Goals for challenge
* Inversion method every other month starting in Jan-I believe my hair will "adapt" if I do more frequently.
* Drink more water - I really fail at this and suffer from really dry hair...need to hydrate from within
* Exercise - doubly beneficial for hair and waistline.
* Less direct heat - I blow dry once a month and flatiron about every other month.

Almost done with my 1 inch in 1 week challenge; will have a picture update on the 31st the latest, and will remain in this challenge throughout 2014 to achieve waist and then hip length.
I will do every month the inverse technique until it stops giving results. My bottle of monovin ended Crybut I was able to put the rest on a shampoo. Now I won't have any growth aids.

On my first or second post I stated that I would try oiling my hair after reading some Indian blog where this girl's mother oiled her hair every other day and her hair grew a lot.
Oiling my hair was annoying because my hair looked greasy, but doing so once a week is not that bad, and my hair looks shiny after a wash.

I will continue taking my multivitamins, and hopefully I will take daily, which I have been lacking.

ok... the blog where I read about oiling your hair, has some tips on how to make your hair grow.

Top 3 Home Remedies for Fast Hair Growth

Many of us think that maintaining long hair is a tough task but we never realize that long and healthy hair adds beauty to women. Some people suffer from hair loss and the others face hair problems like dandruff, thin hair, split ends etc. These hair issues block our hair growth and gives a bad hair. To grow long and strong hair as in the below picture you should follow simple hair rules and home remedies which I am going to list for you now. If you follow these tips and maintain your hair regularly you can get a awesome beautiful looking hair within months. All you have to need is patience and proper maintenance of your precious hair.
Listen friends, I got the following homemade herbal hair care tips from my mom whose hair is really very beautiful even at the age of 54. Do you believe? But it’s the truth! Even I feel really jealous of her hair. I took a snap and including it here..!! Take a look below.
(I clicked this today without her knowledge and sorry for the bad quality of pic Grin
She will shout at me if she gets to know that I uploaded it here Razz ha ha)
Now let’s move on to the tips. Read each and every home remedy carefully and follow them without fail to achieve beautiful looking hair.
Tip 1: Hot Oil Massage
There’s nothing better than oiling your hair, which gives nourishment and strengthens your hair. But few people really don’t like to oil their hair as same as me Smile I feel uncomfortable to go out with oil in my hair as it attracts dust, pollution and also gives a bad oily face look. When I fail to oil, I really get a bad brush like hair. You can do HOT OIL MASSAGE at home once or twice in a week to prevent hair from breaking, drying and thinning. This is a very simple procedure of heating oils like coconut oil, castor oil or even olive oil and gently massaging your scalp and hair with this. After massaging we should wash our hair with a good herbal shampoo. This procedure, when followed regularly, improves the blood circulation in the scalp and promotes faster hair growth.
You can also buy our MABH fast growth hair oil online Smile Its my family recipe and works wonders to grow out long hair fast.
Tip 2: Herbal Hair Massage (After oil massage)
For extra nourishing and thickening of hair, hair pack should be applied at least once in 15 days, especially after the oil massage (Thus the pack penetrates well). It removes the dead follicles and adds volume to your hair. Usually I use an herbal hair pack every week which gives good results in removing dandruff, preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. This pack is suggested by my mom and I recommend everyone to follow this home treatment for fast growth growth and peacock feather like soft hair.
Things you will need:
1.Tripala
2.Brahmi
3.Tulsi powder
4.Neem powder (Optional)
Preparation Method:
  • Grind Tripala and Brahmi. These herbs are easily available in herbal shops and super markets.
  • Mix Tulsi powder and Neem powder with this paste. Add little water to this mixture to form a smooth hair pack paste.
  • Now apply this paste allover your hair and scalp and wrap hair with a shower cap. Allow this mixture to work on your scalp for at least 40 minutes.
  • Now wash your hair with clean water and mild herbal shampoo.
3. Hair Growth Supplements:
  • Daily intake of Biotin and folic acid pills strengthens hair and adds volume to it, thus the hair would be free from split ends and grow longer. (Consulting your physician is a must before planning to take your supplements)
  • You can also take Vitamin A, C and E for smooth, silky and healthy hair.
  • Add spinach, egg whites, proteins and carrots in your daily diet to see visible faster hair growth.

on another page she tells the ingredients of the MABH oil:
It is 100% traditionally homemade and packed. Shelf life of the product is 6 months. It contains neem, tulsi, hibiscus, bringraj, vitamin E extracts, aloe vera, natural essential oils including 20+ herbs (Few are rarely found and they are collected, dried, powdered and mixed in a secret ratio)

I am considering buying the oil and trying out since I don't know where to find those herbs which most likely will come up to the same price of the oil if not more. She is selling it for about U$7, plus shipping, I will await on her reply; if she can send to the US, I will buy it and will let you guys know if it works.

when i first started out on my HHJ i was texturized and back then for the life of me could not understand porosity so i pretty much ignored it but i did do the porosity test and my hair sank to the the bottom.  when i was transitioning i did it again and it sank mid way and so i switched between moisturizing conditioners and protein.  now that im natural i once again did the strand test and forgot it for 24 hours and the hair was still floatingShockedLOL

ok, so now that i have low porosity i have to change up once again. which is a little annoying because i was comfortable with my products and was settling in for the long hall.  i have been experiencing breakage that at first i thought was from my texturized ends but even after i cut it all off im still having breakage.  now im understanding that i no longer need the protein and now will have to find new products and let go of my all stars:

even my beloved VO5 contains proteinCry <------thats a legitimate tear.  i love that stuff *pours liquor*

my life line mane n tail that i use to make my leave-in and dc base Cry

my heart and soul Lusti Organics olive oil detangling spray Cry *i cant breath yah*

cantu shea butter that i only used sporadically but stillLOL

i kinda knew that aloe vera gel is a protein but still who thinks of thatStern Smile

and im glad i didnt get too attached to coconut oil

im willing to give up everything right now but the Lusti Organic and aloe vera.  i'll probably need to ween myself off the Lusti's gradually like heroin (maybe) but aloe vera gel if i cant have that then all this for real and im serious.  this journey aint worth traveling without aloe vera gel.  i have to draw a line somewhere and there it is LOL

yeah im starting over for 2014...dammitOuch

i can do it, i just dont want to but i willLOL
