I'll say it. This is a red herring. This is how I feel. People are so-called mobilized behind this one statistically insignificant, isolated incident at the expense of ignoring the murders that happen every single day. People are saying they are scared for their sons, that they don't want to have children now, and that Trayvon could have been anyone in their family. So none of this ever occurred to anyone BEFORE GZ killed Trayvon Martin? Yes, it's wrong, but is this really a priority? Why are the daily killings allowed to go unprotested? Ungrieved? Un-memorialized?

This whole Trayvon situation just gave us something to look at and talk about while the real issues go ignored. Think bigger, people.

You can one star me but admit to yourself at least that you don't know or care who else was killed that day, or today even. I'm not trying to trivialize this. I'm saying that the same anger and disgust we have for the Trayvon Martin case is in order for any other murder as well. And we want to talk about mobilization. Yeah right.

Tipping point.

People were fed up before Zimmerb*tch killed Trayvon in cold blood.

This isn't an all or nothing event. Hopefully, this is a tipping point. The straw that breaks the camels back.

Let's not make people feel guilty for finally caring. Nothing will get done until people start to care. If this case resonates with people enough to really yearn for change....good. His death can catapult many of us forward.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. That's a good way to look at it.

It didn't have to be said today. But I understand what you're saying & where you're coming from. I think why this hit home for so many of us...is because it was a act of stalking by a stranger...

Usually our black on black crimes are committed by people that know each other. Yes any killing is wrong and should strike a call for action...but it is more polarizing, when a stranger takes set on a young black boy wearing a hoodie.

Rosa Parks wasn't the first one to refuse her seat, yet her incident sparked national outrage.  The Trayvon Martin case shows inequality and injustice in regards to Blacks in the justice system.  It is not the time to troll and it is not the time to point fingers, it is the time to get up off our asses and make a damn change. We need to stick together, cotdamn.
